Author Guidelines

Interscript | UCL Journal of Publishing considers academic contributions of around 1,000 to 5,000 words. Submissions can include tables, figures, illustrations, photographs, as well as audio, audiovisual or animated material.

Submissions should include

  • an abstract of 100-200 words (including research aim, methodology, and conclusion)

  • 5 keywords

  • a short vita of the author of max. 100 words in a separate document. ORCID, Researchgate, or other social media account are welcome

All manuscripts must be written in English, in a clear, clinical language, and be submitted in Word or Richtext format. They should be formatted in a standard style, suitable for a double-blind review process:

  • Times New Roman or Arial font

  • 12 pt font size

  • single-spaced

  • italics for emphasising

  • underlining for URLs

  • including a table of contents, table of figures, or other tables, if applicable

  • the content document must not include any reference to the author, his institution, or any other attribute that reveals the author’s identity. This ensures that the double-blind review process can be carried out effectively.

Contributions must be original and not under consideration for publication in other journals. Furthermore, Interscript will conduct a plagiarism check. All articles must be referenced using the Harvard in-text referencing system, combined with a full reference list at the end of the article.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
