Author Guidelines

Generally, the Journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  1. Articles between 8,000 and 12,000 words including footnotes;
  2. Case Notes between 4,000 and 6,000 words including footnotes; and
  3. Book Reviews between 1,000 and 2,000 words including footnotes;

Contributions that have already been published or that are under consideration for publication with other journals will not be considered. Please note that all manuscripts must be submitted in Word (.doc) or Richtext (.rtf) format and must comply with OSCOLA.  Manuscripts should use a 12 point font, be single-spaced and should employ italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses). Submissions should contain an abstract of between 100 and 200 words (not counted towards the word limit).

The number of words in the text and (separately if possible) the footnotes should be stated in and/or with the submission according to the chosen type of manuscript. Please ensure that your manuscript does not contain any reference to your personal or professional identity, including name, initials, university, or any other means to identify you (see also “Link to Ensuring Blind Peer Review”). The UCL Journal of Law and Jurisprudence accepts co-authored manuscripts insofar as these are in compliance with the submission guidelines herein.

Please note that the UCL Journal of Law and Jurisprudence is unlikely to consider submissions which substantially deviate from the above requirements and will not review or consider submissions submitted via email.

Please do not hesitate to contact the journal should you have any queries concerning the submission guidelines and/or process:  ucljlj@ucl.ac.uk
